Since January 1, 2013, the QST reporting periods of financial institutions registered for the GST/HST are the same as their GST/HST reporting periods.
Although you might not realize this, all small, part-time business must keep accurate financial records. Without records of business expenses and income, it is impossible to monitor whether or not the business is making money.
Even the smallest business should have its own checking and savings accounts. Business accounts may be prohibitively expensive for small businesses. Some banks will allow you to open a free "personal" checking account with your business name on the checks.
